- Former Vice President of the European Commission and long-standing EU Commissioner Dr. Viviane Reding strengthens the Advisory Board starting 1st October
- Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) and Managing Partner Fynn Kreuz will be appointed as member of the Executive Board to the Board of Directors
Numbrs Personal Finance AG (“Numbrs”), provider of the leading independent financial app in the German market, today announced a comprehensive realignment of its management, control and advisory bodies. The aim of the changes is to prepare for a new phase of corporate development based on the high development level of the app, the recent financing round totaling more than USD 40 million and the continued dynamic user growth. The company will now be able to focus its strategic implementation on the scaling of the Numbrs platform in the German and other European markets.
An important step is the strengthening of European policy expertise on Numbrs’ Advisory Board by appointing the former Vice President of the European Commission and Commissioner for Justice, Fundamental Rights and Citizenship, Dr. Viviane Reding. She will join the Advisory Board on 1 October and has 25 years of experience in European politics, including 15 years as European Commissioner. Reding became particularly well known through the harmonization of European data protection law and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). She will advise Numbrs management on all EU issues, especially on questions relating data protection.
In addition to Dr. Viviane Reding, the Advisory Board also includes Dr. Philip Rösler, former Vice Chancellor and Minister of Economics and Technology of Germany, Sir Victor Blank, former Chairman of Lloyds Banking Group, and Bill Benz, former Head of PIMCO EMEA.
In the context of the realignment, Numbrs will also streamline the Board of Directors and strengthen the business division Marketing, Sales and Partnerships: Fynn Kreuz, Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) and Managing Partner at Numbrs, will be appointed as Executive Board Member to the Board of Directors of Numbrs Personal Finance AG effective 21 September. Other members include Martin Saidler, President of the Board of Directors, and Abdulla Qassem, COO at Emirates NBD Group. Two former members of the Board of Directors, Dr. Boaz Barack and Dr. Thomas Ladner, already resigned from their positions at the beginning of September. Also in connection with the realignment, the former CFO, Daniel Müller, is leaving the company on 1 October by amicable mutual agreement to pursue new challenges. Mr. Müller’s operational duties will be assumed by the experienced management team of Numbrs’ Finance Department until further notice.
“After five years of intensive development, we are now entering the scaling phase of our platform and are reorganizing our decision-making processes and leadership structure to focus entirely on our growth goals. We are proud to count on the experience and advice of Dr. Viviane Reding and warmly welcome her to our company,” said Martin Saidler, CEO and Founder of Numbrs, and added: “Numbrs is now one of the best financed FinTechs in Europe and, with a valuation of more than EUR 1 billion, it is also one of the most valuable. We would like to thank Daniel Müller, who has played an active role in this process with responsibility for finance and controlling since 2014. We would also like to thank our longstanding members of the Board of Directors Dr. Boaz Barak and Dr. Thomas Ladner for their valuable support and respected expertise in recent years.”
“A genuine European single market for digital products and services, designed for the benefit of all EU citizens, has been one of the central concerns of my political agenda for many years. I am therefore particularly pleased to now support the efforts of a company like Numbrs that is active in this very EU internal market and, at the same time, handles its users’ data with a high degree of care. The Numbrs app still has both great European and international growth potential, and I am happy to play my part in the realization of this,” commented Viviane Reding.
Daniel Müller said: “The last five years have been an exciting time in which we have developed Numbrs into one of the world’s leading financial apps. I would like to thank the entire team and Martin Saidler for their trust and excellent cooperation.”
